Bio

Carlehr Swanson is a distinguished alumna of George Mason University and the University of Miami, with degrees in Jazz Vocal Performance. Currently a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Virginia, specializing in Critical and Comparative Studies in Music, her research focuses on civic engagement, creative practice, and gospel music.

Alongside her academic pursuits, Carlehr founded “Music is Unity,” an organization dedicated to spreading musical joy through free performances at schools and nursing homes. She is also a dedicated participant in the Miss Virginia Organization, consistently reaching Top 5 positions. A renowned vocalist, Carlehr has shared the stage with artists like Shelia Jordan, The Manhattan Transfer, and The New York Voices. You can experience her musical talent through her original single, “I Want You,” available on major streaming platforms.

Additionally, Carlehr hosts a Sunday morning radio show on Charlottesville’s 101.3 Jamz, where she shares her passion for gospel music. Amidst her diverse roles, her ultimate goal is to positively impact every sphere she engages with.
